Beware of Stringbags

I’m Andy Smith, Ambassador for Transform Work.

When the mighty German battleship Bismark was struck by a torpedo in its rudder, its ultimate fate was sealed. But this did not happen in a major naval engagement with other warships. The source was an innocuous biplane called a Swordfish, affectionately known as a flying stringbag which tells you all you need to know about that plane.

James compares the influence of the tongue on situations to that of a ships rudder. When it is not under control we can find ourselves going round in circles. But it is not just big confrontations we need to be wary of. It is in the small conversations with friends, neighbours, people at church where we equally need to mind our words.

May all our conversations be seasoned with salt this day and watch out for any flying stringbags.
